About Nikki Wheeler

Nikki Wheeler is an artist and designer living in central Illinois. A lifelong fiber artist, she began her career as a professional costume designer and instructor. As a costume designer she designs and illustrates custom clothing and accessories for performers, and uses a wide variety or fiber art techniques to make those designs come alive on stage at Bradley University, Illinois Central College, Eureka College, and many more.

She has taught art, design, and fiber arts to students of all ages through various colleges, universities, park districts, and most recently at the Peoria Art Guild. Nikki now serves the community as Director of Education at the Peoria Art Guild and Co-Director of the annual Peoria Art Guild Fine Art Fair.

Nikki has recently started printmaking. Printmaking has allowed her to explore bold and expressive color palettes, offer a different perspective on images from pop and consumer culture, and embrace the impulsivity of creativity.
